Habitat for Humanity dedicates new homes to families

MIRAMAR, Fla. (WSVN) -- Habitat for Humanity, with the help of the WSVN family, has dedicated four new homes to South Florida families over the weekend.
"Habitat, the love of my life, you work hard, but it's worth it," said Arnetta McNeal.
After months of hard work and sweat, four families have moved into their new homes. "Present this plaque and the keys to your new Habitat for Humanity home."
"I'm highly blessed and favored, I've been waiting for so long on Habitat, and the day has finally come," said Rebecca Wright.
Habitat for Humanity of Broward dedicated four homes Sunday to much deserving families in Miramar. The event was hosted by 7 News Meteorologist Julie Durda. "I'm pleased to be here. Today we're celebrating the dedication of four homes," said Durda.
Wright never thought she would be working on a construction site. "I was living in the projects, so I made the decision to better myself and my children," she said.
Wright's sweat equity hours constructing a new home turned her life around. "I had so much fun building my home," she said. "To see how a home is built, it is very exciting, for all the volunteers to come and help me to build my house."
Her blood, sweat and tears wouldn't be possible, without the help of several South Florida organizations donating their services to the cause. "We couldn't do it without sponsors," said WSVN Vice President/General Manager Robert Leider. "We have a great staff, great board, but without people like Publix, Lane Thomas, Wachovia, Wells Fargo, Premier Beverage and Miramar Park and Commerce, we wouldn't be here today."
More than 100 volunteers contributed countless hours to the projects and their dedication clearly paid off. "I think the favorite part of the whole process, is seeing the family and seeing the excitement and the pride in their faces, and their children's faces; and realizing that they have this wonderful opportunity," said WSVN Vice President Andrew Ansin.
New homeowners said their families are blessed to have such a wonderful team on their side. "Our community needs you, it needs organizations like you. I'm so moved with this," said one homeowner.
WSVN is a proud sponsor of the Habitat for Humanity program.
