MIRAMAR, Fla. (WSVN) -- Two people are recovering in the hospital after suffering possible carbon monoxide poisoning early Monday morning.

"First rescue was called to the scene for a male that was not feeling well. Rescue got here, they noticed an odor," said Miramar Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Peter Gurdak.

Around 1:45 a.m., Miramar Fire Rescue arrived at a home at 3090 Salinas Way to find a woman passed out and a man complaining of feeling ill. Rescue crews entered the home and ventilated it, while Broward County Hazmat was called in to clear the house out.

Miramar Fire Rescue transported the man and woman to Memorial Regional Hospital where their condition is unknown. There were also a couple of dogs at the home that were rescued.

Rescuers believe the two may have suffered from carbon monoxide poisoning, however, they are still working to verify that. "We're really not sure. All we can figure is that it might be from some carbon monoxide poisoning from possibly from the car running in the garage a few hours prior, but that's just a well-educated guess," said Gurdak.

According to Miramar Fire Rescue, a car was being repaired earlier in the evening in the garage, but there is no word if the fumes came from the car.
