New water main pipe arrives in Hialeah
HIALEAH, Fla. (WSVN) -- A new pipe has arrived to replace a giant broken water main in Hialeah.
The new 54-inch mainline, which brings water to parts of Hialeah and North Miami-Dade County, will go in as part of the repairs from Tuesday's break.
Yesterday's burst caused millions of gallons of water to spill into the streets and even flooded homes and cars. It also created a sinkhole 40 feet in diameter and about 10 feet deep at the intersection of West Fourth Avenue and 41st Place.
The sinkhole destroyed parts of the roadway and crews have been working around-the-clock to fix the destruction. Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Officials expect repairs to take a week to complete.
