NORTH MIAMI, Fla. (WSVN) -- Police have arrested four students who were caught on surveillance video vandalizing a South Florida school.

A teen was seen on the footage discharging a fire extinguisher in the hallway of North Miami Senior high School last week while another student does the same in the school's main office then throws the extinguisher through a glass window. "To me it was wrong, It was really wrong to do that," said a student.

According to police reports, about a dozen kids broke into the school and caused about $10,000 worth of damage to Miami-Dade Public Schools. "There were 15 fire extinguishers, there were several windows, doors that were damaged. There were glass, paint, TV and the PA system sustained some damaged," said Miami-Dade Public Schools Police Chief Charles Hurley.

According to police, several other schools are being vandalized and taxpayers are the ones affected. "Mind you, these are all children from the same community that live and reside to close to the school that are committing these acts. The message is very simple, is very clear, help us watch these schools. If you see suspicious activity report it," said Hurley.

Four North Miami School students were arrested Thursday afternoon and are facing felony charges.

Police said they knew the identity of the kids but wanted to make sure they had a chance to take the FCAT before taking action.
