DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) -- A 15-year-old girl remains in critical condition after a teenage boy brutally beat her outside of Deerfield Beach Middle School Wednesday afternoon.

"He said he was going to kill her," said Devonte Nelson, a seventh grader who witnessed the attack. "That's his ex-girlfriend."

Broward Sheriff's Office deputies said Wayne Treacy, a 15-year-old student from Deerfield Beach High School, savagely beat the girl near a school bus stop. "He slammed this girl's head into the concrete and he did it repeatedly. Then he started kicking her and punching her in the neck," said Sexton Spencer, who also witnessed the attack. "It was painful just to see all the blood gushing out of her head. It was nasty."

BSO said Treacy attacked Josie Lou Ratley just before 3 p.m. outside of Deerfield Beach Middle school at 701 SE 6th Ave. "He punched her; she fell to the ground. He continued to punch her, he stomped on her, he even had steel-toed boots on," said Broward Sheriff's Office spokesperson Mike Jachles. "It took a school teacher that noticed this to physically pull this 15-year-old suspect from the attack."

Rescue crews found the eighth grader unconscious and unresponsive and transported her to Broward General Medical Center.

Deputies handcuffed the high school student after questioning him and put him in the back of a BSO Cruiser, just before 6 p.m.

Students are outraged with the attack. "Do the same thing he did to her," said Javier Sardinas.

This attack happened several months after another attack on a Deerfield Beach Middle School student, Michael Brewer. Police said a group of teens set the boy on fire outside of an apartment building. "I think it's crazy. There's been so much violence at this school, this school year that it's amazing what these kids are doing nowadays," said Armando Valdez, a concerned parent.

Mark Wilson said due to the incident, his daughter will not attend this school. "I'm very upset. It's crazy, and what are they doing about it? Nothing," he said.

Authorities are not sure what sent Treacy on this rampage. He is being held at the juvenile detention center in Fort Lauderdale. He has been charged with one count of premeditated attempted murder.
