FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) -- JetBlue flight from Boston to Fort Lauderdale was diverted to Orlando after a passenger became disruptive, authorities said.
David Collyer, 30, was taken off flight 457 and into FBI custody Sunday after a "possible altercation with flight crew," FBI spokesman Kevin Farrington said.
Collyer, of Sharon, Mass., had to "be physically restrained by flight crew and passengers" a JetBlue employee told an officer who arrived on scene, according to an Orlando Police Department report. Neither Collyer nor the 156 passengers and 6 crew members were injured. Details of the incident were not being released pending an investigation, Farrington said.
Collyer, who was charged with flight interference, appeared in court Monday, he said. He was released on $10,000 unsecured bond, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
A telephone call placed to his public defender was not immediately returned Monday.
The Airbus A320 departed Boston Logan International Airport at 5:08 p.m. and was scheduled to land at Fort Lauderdale International Airport at 7:35 p.m. Flight crew members decided to take a precautionary measure and land at Orlando International Airport where Collyer was taken into custody for questioning, said Sebastian White, a spokesman for JetBlue.
"We don't have details of exactly what was happening, but our flight crew take whatever precautionary measures were necessary," White said.
After a two-hour delay, the flight continued to Fort Lauderdale without the passenger. It landed in Fort Lauderdale at 11:05 p.m.
