Burglars steal family dog

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) -- A Miami-Dade man who returned home from work to find his home burglarized, discovered the thieves had taken more than just jewelry, electronics and holiday gifts. They had also taken the family's 13-year-old dog.

Thomas Snook says there's no way his dog ran off during the robbery. The Yorkshire terrier has trouble walking and needs daily medication for kidney problems.

Other items stolen include a laptop computer and a .22-caliber semiautomatic handgun.

The dog's estimated value is $1,000, but Snook says the dog is worth much more than that. He says the dog is part of the family.
