Mask wearing bandits hit another pharmacy, making number 8 in 3 weeks

BOCA RATON, Fla. (WSVN) -- A rash of pharmacy robberies has spread to Palm Beach County where two 24 hour stores were robbed early this morning.

Officials are searching for armed suspects who robbed two pharmacies within hours. Police say the first armed robbery occurred at a Walgreens located at 9851 Glades Road around 3:30 a.m. The suspects entered the pharmacy located the pharmacist behind the counter, ordered him to open the register and for unknown reasons left the store before the money was taken.

The second armed robbery occurred three miles away at a CVS located at 10055 Yamato Road around 4 a.m. Two suspects entered the CVS and were successful in demanding an undisclosed amount of money.

Authorities say there have been eight pharmacy robberies or attempted robberies in three different counties in just three weeks. Since Sept. 4 there have been 13 robberies with similar characteristics, including masks as disguises and weapons.

Officials are gathering their notes on each robbery and are trying to determine if all the robberies from Miami-Dade to Broward to Palm Beach County are connected.
