Maxim magazine names Miami the country's top party city

MIAMI (AP) -- Miami is the country's top party city, according to Maxim magazine.

The men's magazine put its party list in its November issue, on sale today. The editors gave Miami top billing because of its 49 modeling agencies and 13.2 percent divorcee rate, and because Heat star Shaquille O'Neal is, quote, "the only cop in town!"

It seems clear that Maxim includes Miami Beach when the editors say Miami. The magazine says: "Most of all, we like your market-driven night life. Bars close whenever, dancing and smoking are accepted and happy hour is a lifestyle."

Tampa also made the magazine's top ten list. Tampa was sixth, with editors crediting the city's 49 strip clubs.

Maxim says its list is based on each city's number of modeling agencies, divorces, residents' median ages, nearby colleges, 24-hour restaurants, gambling laws and condom sales.
