2 masked men shoot and kill cell phone store employee
MIAMI (WSVN) -- Authorities are searching for two suspects who ambushed and killed a cell phone store clerk while he was closing up for the evening.
According to police, at around 5:30 p.m. Sunday, the employee was locking up his store located in a strip mall at 3525 NW 17th Ave. when the subjects approached and shot him in the back. "Masked men, we don't know if they were black or white, we don't know anything," said Detective Rick Martinez of the Miami Police Department. "[They] approached him and basically just shot him, and I think they got away with the money."
After shooting him, they apparently took a bag containing the day's earnings. The men fled in an unknown vehicle. Rescue crews transported the clerk to Jackson Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
One co-worker is shocked by the ordeal. "He was a really good friend of mine," said Jordan Rodriguez. "I can't believe this happened."
A customer is now concerned with safety in the area. "It's bad that we have to worry about our safety in this area," said Sandra Moreland.
If you have any information on this fatal robbery, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.
