Judge dismisses lawsuit challenging Segway ban at Disney World

Judge dismisses lawsuit challenging Segway ban at Disney World

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- A federal judge in Orlando has dismissed a lawsuit that sought to allow disabled visitors to ride Segways at Walt Disney World.

U.S. District Judge Gregory Presnell agreed with Disney World's argument that the three people who sued had not shown they intended to visit the resort anytime soon.

The lawsuit was filed in November by a man and a woman from Illinois and a woman from Iowa. They claimed that Disney violated the Americans with Disabilities Act by forbidding the use of the upright Segway scooters in its theme parks. All three people said they relied on Segways for mobility because of health problems.

Disney says it has safety concerns about Segways in its often-crowded parks.
