Woman files lawsuit after fall at Naples sanctuary

NAPLES, Fla. (AP) -- A Florida woman had filed a lawsuit against the owner of a Naples sanctuary after she allegedly slipping on bird poop or mud there.
Patricia Nicola of Estero says in a lawsuit she was at Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary in Naples in December 2007 when she stepped on brown feces or mud on a damp boardwalk. That caused her to slip and fall, injuring her right shoulder.
Nicola has filed a lawsuit against the National Audubon Society, which owns the sanctuary, saying it didn't keep the boardwalk clean or warn the public about a slippery surface. The lawsuit seeks compensation for her injuries.
Nicola's attorney and a spokesman for Audubon of Florida both declined to comment to the Naples Daily News because the lawsuit is pending.
