Persons of interest questioned in gas station shooting
MIAMI (WSVN) -- Investigators are questioning persons of interest that may have been involved in a shooting Wednesday morning that left a car riddled with bullet holes and its driver dead.
According to police, at least one person inside a vehicle carrying four men and one woman unleashed bullets into a red car at a BP gas station on Southwest Eight Street and 11th Avenue in Little Havana at around 1 a.m. In an attempt to flee the attack, the mowed-down vehicle continued down the road for approximately one city block before coming to a stop.
All three passengers inside the red car miraculously survived the gunfire, but the vehicle's driver did not. "Numerous gunfire was deployed at the gas station. It could have been a lot worse," Miami Police Detective Keina Alfonso. "Luckily, just one person was hit."
Cameras captured rescue crews treating a female passenger covered in blood. "There was a lady screaming," said Witness Mike Rodriguez.
With the help of witness accounts, police believe they have narrowed down the suspect vehicle. "We are looking for a four-door, gray or possibly silver Chevy Impala with dark, tinted windows."
Authorities located a car matching their description parked outside a home near the scene of the shooting and are speaking to the people inside that residence. "We believe that there is a possibility that [the Impala] might have something to do with the crime or there is a possibility that it might not," said an officer.
If you have any information on this fatal shooting, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.
