Search continues for missing woman in another county
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WSVN) -- Family and friends are still looking for a woman who went missing the day before a restraining order hearing against her husband.
The search for Josephine Frenna has been extended to St. Lucia County where an unidentified body was found in the waters off Sebastian Inlet. A Medical Examiner has yet to release the identity of the body, but officials said the body was wearing a blue bathing suit and was between the ages of 40 to 50 years old.
Frenna vanished Thursday and her family and friends are fearing foul play. "She dropped her son off at the bus stop at 8 a.m. in front of the building, and she went back into her apartment. At some point she left her apartment, and then her whereabouts are unknown," said Steve Stabile, a family friend.
The Frenna family is pleading for the public's help in finding their loved one. "Just bring Josephine back to us. We don't care how, where, what. We just want Josephine back," said Pat Frenna. "Please bring my sister back."
The 51-year-old was last seen one day before her lawyer was to meet her in court to file an extension to a restraining order against her estranged husband, Gerardo DiMarco.
The order says: "He is violent. He axed the door lock because I locked it. Here's a picture of that door." The restraining order goes on to say: "He is dangerous. He physically grabbed me and started screaming and cursing at me." Freena said DiMarco also threatened to throw her from the balcony of their eighth story condo.
Frenna's family said it is unlike her to not show up at home or to court. Frenna's sister, Rosa Frenna, cried and was distraught over her disappearance. "She's an angel. She's a good person to everybody. Even with the hospital she was very good."
Police have not named any suspects at this time, but are calling this case "suspicious." "We are leaving no rock unturned. We're doing whatever we can to find out what happened to her," said Kathy Collins of the Fort Lauderdale Police Department.
Crime Scene Investigators found Frenna's keys, wallet and purse still inside her home, but, so far, no one has heard from Frenna, something her family says is unlike her. "Josephine has a 14-year-old boy, who needs his mom. He's asking questions. Anybody who's seen anything out of the ordinary, please get in touch with the Fort Lauderdale Police Department," said Stabile.
If you have any information on Frenna's whereabouts, call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
