Police searching for jewelry store attempted robbers, kidnappers
SWEETWATER, Fla. (WSVN) -- Police are searching for two of four suspects who kidnapped a jewelry store owner at gunpoint and attempted to rob his jewelry store.
Police said they have already arrested two of the four suspects, who tied up the jewelry store owner, his wife and his mother at his home around 10 Tuesday night. Wednesday morning, the suspects took the three victims to the jewelry store located at 110 Avenue and West Flagler Street. An alarm went off, and police caught two of the suspects.
Authorities said the store owner was terrorized by the suspects. "The owner of the jewelry store and the owner of the home, they beat him and tortured him to try to get him to come over here to the jewelry store and open the jewelry store for them and give them the merchandise," said Sweetwater Police Department Chief Robert Fulgueira.
The owner and his wife are in their 50s and the owner's mother is in her 80s. They are all expected to be OK.
Officials are investigating the scene as authorities search for the two remaining suspects.
If you have any information on the other suspects, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.
