Police arrest 6 after jog path attacks
NORTH MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) -- A South Florida community can now breath a sigh of relief after several suspects accused of a violent crime spree are behind bars.
A major news conference held in Miami Beach Wednesday informed the public that six men were arrested after numerous attacks near a jogging path on May 24.
"North Miami Beach experienced a crime spree that, in my time in law enforcement, had not been experienced," said North Miami Beach Police Detective Nigel Morrison.
The accused thugs vary between the ages of 13 and 18 years of age. During the spree, a woman was gang raped and another carjacked. Their getaway vehicle crashed and seriously injured an innocent driver. "The vehicle was traveling at over 100 miles per hour. The officers attempted to stop the vehicle, at which point it went head on into another vehicle," said North Miami Beach Police Detective Rich Rand.
According to police, the ringleader was 13-year-old Ronald Franklin. "Parents obviously should know where a 13-year-old is at 10 p.m., and he should be at home preparing for school," said Morrison.
According to police, there were 11 victims in total on this alleged crime spree.
Police are still looking for one suspect that may go by the name of Cutlow.
