US Coast Guard keeps an eye on Hurricane Ike
OPA LOCKA, Fla. (WSVN) -- Officials said a US Coast Guard helicopter crew is preparing to take off from Opa-Locka airport to warn boaters of the impending storm.
"Sailing through a hurricane.. it's extremely dangerous. Not only because of the threat, the wind and the waves, but also the fact is that our ability to rescue them is degraded due to the weather." Lieutenant Andy Baines said
The crew of Air Station Miami will be flying on Saturday and Sunday ahead of the storm.
