Man testifies about being nearly beaten to death

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WSVN) -- A homeless man's terrifying tale moved a courtroom Wednesday.

Fifty-two-year-old Raymond Perez testified in the trial of 19-year-old Thomas Daugherty and 21-year-old Brian Hooks.

Authorities said the two young men are charged with first degree murder and two counts of attempted murder, for beating three homeless men in January of 2006.

Perez recalls the night he was nearly beaten to death. "So much blood, and I'm trying to see where all the blood was coming from. I touched my head and see blood coming on my face, and then I tried to raise my hand and it's kinda fallen off, and I said, 'Jesus.' It went deep, they cut right down to the bone," Perez said.

A third victim died from injuries he sustained from the beatings.

If found guilty, Daugherty and Hooks could face life in prison.
