Crash causes roads to close; 7 taken to hospital
HIALEAH GARDENS, Fla. (WSVN) -- Major roadways have been shut down in both directions after several vehicles collided Friday afternoon.
According to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, several victims had to be extracted from a box truck that collided with another vehicle along Northwest 121st Way and Okeechobee Road. Officials said there were several passengers travelling inside the box truck.
At least seven people were transported to the hospital.
A police officer was on his way to respond to that accident when a sports utility vehicle cut in front of him. The officer suffered minor injuries.
Officials shut down Okeechobee Road in both directions for about a mile to make way for air-rescue to land. The choppers have since been cleared.
Three people were listed in critical condition.
