Habitat for Humanity prepares for Winterfest

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WSVN) -- A holiday tradition is ready to set sail this weekend, and one charity is ready to float their beautiful boat.
Habitat for Humanity got a lot of help decorating their boat for the Winterfest Boat Parade. "We have thousands and thousands and thousands of lights," said Habitat for Humanity ReStore Chairperson Nancy Daly. "And of course, as a non profit, they're all donated."
Volunteers have just days to get this boat parade ready. "It's really friends helping friends," said Wells Fargo volunteer Cynthia Martin, "to really build homes, and it's just a great thing."
It's a huge undertaking. More intricate than just stringing lights together. "You can't put more than three strings together if there are more than 300 lights," said Daly. "You can't put more than five strings together if it's 100 lights, or you'll blow your whole design. I'm hoping I remember all that."
The Beatles cover band, Anthology, Habitat friends, built a different kind of home this year, but the meaning behind it is just as special.
Come Saturday, the Habitat for Humanity boat will be complete, and it will be a work of art, but it's going to take a lot of work and sweat from now until then.
