Authorities fire at dog after attack

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) -- A pitbull mix is with Animal Control after attacking a man Saturday morning.
According to authorities, a man visiting his friend near Northwest 4th Street and 23rd Avenue, was attacked when a pitbull broke out of the neighbor's yard and bit the man's leg.
Neighbors called 911 for help. When police arrived, the dog charged the Broward Sheriff's Office deputy forcing him to fire.
The victim confirms the officer's actions as his only option. "The dog got loose, some kind of way, and charged the officer. If the officer wouldn't have shot him then, he would have got the officer," Ronald Jones said.
The victim suffered a minor bite injury and the dog was taken to Hollywood Animal Hospital and is expected to be OK.
