Police lift school lock-down after catching 2 fleeing suspects

COOPER CITY, Fla. (WSVN) -- Following a school lock-down and an hours-long search that involved K-9s and a helicopter, Police have arrested two burglary suspects who crashed their car after a pursuit.
Broward Sheriff's Office deputies took the two men into custody at 1:15 p.m. Thursday in the 5700 Block of Southwest 119 Avenue.
Police had to lock down Pembroke Pines Charter Middle School after the police pursuit ended with a crash nearby, on Sheridan Street, just west of Flamingo, late Thursday morning. The lock down was ordered as a precaution in order to protect those inside while police searched for the two male suspects who fled the disabled Ford Taurus on foot. Police caught a third person at the scene.
BSO first responded to 11926 SW 54 St. in Cooper City regarding a suspicious incident, possibly an attempted residential burglary. A 911 call came in about 10:36 a.m. alerting the authorities.
Police had to close down Sheridan due to the crash and the search, but the roads have since re-opened with the break down of the perimeter and the lifting of the school lock-down.
