ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) -- A poll in Sunday's Albuquerque Journal suggests New Mexico voters strongly disapprove of the state's policy of giving driver's licenses to illegal immigrants and a majority of them support Arizona's new immigration law.

Fifty-three percent of respondents indicated they favor Arizona's law, while 35 percent said they disapprove. Seven percent expressed mixed feelings while 5 percent answered don't know or wouldn't say.

University of New Mexico assistant political science professor Gabriel Sanchez says the poll shows New Mexicans do not favor the Arizona law as much as the rest of the country, but that the state's voters are becoming more disenchanted with illegal immigrants.
