Berwick man dies from accident injuries

PIERRE PART, La. (AP) -- A 21-year-old Berwick man who was injured in a head-on collision Thursday has died.

State police say Miles Liner was taken to Thibodaux Regional Medical Center for treatment of what authorities called critical injuries after his car was struck on La. Highway 70 by a pickup driven by 46-year-old Yancy Hebert, of Pierre Part. Liner died Saturday.

Troopers say Hebert's vehicle drifted across the centerline and struck Liner's car.

Hebert was booked on two counts of first-degree vehicular negligent injuring and one count of driving left of center. Troopers say Hebert, who was treated for minor injuries, displayed signs of intoxication, and blood and urine samples were obtained for toxicology tests.

State police say additional charges against Hebert are pending.
