Grandparents who moved to help killed in crash
SEATTLE (AP) -- A couple killed when a suspected drunk driver struck them while they were walking near a middle school were grandparents who'd recently moved to Seattle to be near their grandchild.
The couple's daughter-in-law and 10-day-old grandson were critically injured the Monday crash.
Sixty-six-year-old Dennis Schulte and 68-year-old Judith Schulte were pronounced dead at the scene.
Susan Morton, Judith's younger sister, said the couple had just arrived from Kokomo, Ind., to help.
The 50-year-old suspect in the accident, Mark Mullan, is being held on investigation of vehicular homicide and vehicular assault. He has not been formally charged.
