Pa. college student charged with slaying classmate

GETTYSBURG, Pa. (AP) -- A Gettysburg College student is facing criminal homicide charges after his former girlfriend was found dead in his off-campus apartment. She had been choked and stabbed.

Police on Thursday charged 21-year-old Kevin Robert Schaeffer in the slaying of 19-year-old Emily Rachel Silverstein.

Authorities say the two had a romantic relationship that had ended. They are not commenting about a potential motive.

Silverstein was a freshman from Roosevelt, N.J., about 20 miles east of Trenton.

Schaeffer is from Oley, about 10 miles east of Reading, Pa.
