3 due in court in UConn player's killing

VERNON, Conn. (AP) -- Three men charged in connection with the stabbing death of University of Connecticut football player Jasper Howard are due in court.

Article Image 2Johnny Hood, Jamal Todd and Christopher Mutchler are to appear in Rockville Superior Court Tuesday morning.

Howard was killed Oct. 18 during a dispute outside a dance on the Storrs campus.

Six people have been arrested. A Bloomfield man, 21-year-old John Lomax III, is charged with murder and is due in court on Friday.

Hood is scheduled to enter pleas to charges of interfering with police and breach of peace. Todd is accused of pulling a fire alarm that forced dance-goers to leave the building. Mutchler is accused of posting Internet messages threatening witnesses who came forward.

Todd and Mutchler are to be arraigned.
