RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) -- Federal prosecutors say a Southern California man suspected of being the ringleader of a plot to kill Americans by aiding terrorists in Afghanistan has been ordered held without bond.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Oswald Parada on Tuesday also set a preliminary hearing for 34-year-old Sohiel Omar Kabir for Dec. 18th. He will be arraigned the next day.

Kabir was captured by U.S. special forces in Afghanistan last month after being charged with conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists.

He is accused of inviting his co-defendants to visit Afghanistan and meet with terrorists.

His co-defendants, Ralph Deleon and Arifeen Gojail, both 21, and 23-year-old Miguel Santana Vidriales have pleaded not guilty.

Investigators say Kabir introduced Deleon and Santana to radical Islamic doctrine and Gojali was recruited in late September.
