Obama tells donors that big changes take time

MIAMI (AP) -- President Barack Obama is telling his political donors that "big changes don't happen overnight" as he taps low- and high-dollar contributors in a busy evening of fundraising in Miami.
The president was speaking to about 80 wealthy supporters Monday who paid $10,000 each to attend an event at the home of former Samsonite CEO Steve Green. Green served as President Bill Clinton's ambassador to Singapore.
Obama also was attending a fundraiser at the Arsht Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets ranged from $44 to as much as $2,500. About 900 supporters were expected to attend.
A third event attracted about 40 donors paying the maximum allowed, $35,800.
The money raised goes to the Obama Victory Fund 2012, which splits the proceeds between the Obama campaign and the Democratic National Committee.
