LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) -- Seven states trying to block part of the federal health care law that requires contraception coverage are continuing with their lawsuit despite the U.S. Supreme Court ruling that upheld most of the law.

A spokeswoman for Nebraska Attorney General Jon Bruning says he and six other Republican attorneys general will still challenge the rule, which they say violates the rights of religious groups that object to contraceptives.

The other states suiting are Florida, Michigan, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina and Texas.

Constitutional law experts say it isn't a frivolous lawsuit, noting that recent Supreme Court rulings showed sympathies for religious organizations being burdened by government.

The Justice Department wants the lawsuit dismissed. The Obama administration is working on a compromise and has agreed not to enforce the rule until August 2013.
