DC mayor to declare state of emergency
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Washington Mayor Vincent Gray says he will declare a state of emergency for the nation's capital ahead of Hurricane Irene.
Gray said Friday afternoon that the declaration was awaiting final review from the office of the attorney general, but he intended to join governors in Maryland and Virginia in issuing the order.
The storm that is making its way up the East Coast is supposed to pound the area with rain and possible flooding.
