A lot of people believe they should crack a window when a storm approaches to decrease pressure in the house.
Experts say never open a window. It's dangerous. Your goal should always be to make sure your house is sealed up tight.
Another common misconception is putting tape on your windows. It doesn't work.
Tape does not protect windows or prevent them from blowing out or breaking during a storm.
And finally, never lean against windows or doors if the wind is pushing them in. You could get seriously hurt.
Instead, immediately seek shelter in a room that does not have any windows.
