Posted: 09/21/12 at 6:20 am EDT

MIAMI (AP) -- U.S. forecasters say Tropical Storm Nadine is expected to gradually move away from the Azores in coming hours.

The U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami said at 5 a.m. EDT Friday that Nadine was centered about 200 miles (325 kms) south of the Azores and moving to the southeast at 8 mph (13 kph). Forecasters say the storm has top sustained winds of about 65 mph (100 kph). Nadine is expected to bring one to two inches of rain to the Azores as it churns over the Atlantic.

The center says tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 275 miles (445 kms) from Nadine's center. A tropical storm warning is in effect for the Azores.
