Small plane crashes in Brazilian Amazon, killing 7
RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) -- Brazil's federal transportation agency says a small plane has crashed in the Amazon, killing seven people. it says eight others on the air taxi have survived.
The agency says the plane crashed Thursday soon after taking off from Manaus, the capital of Amazonas state. It was heading to the city of Santarem, in the state of Para.
Identities of the dead have not yet been determined, but include three men, three women and one child.
The plane belonged to a local company called Amazonav Taxi Aereo.
