Report: 6 policemen injured in explosion in Turkey

ANKARA, Turkey (AP) -- A television report says an explosion close to a police shooting range has injured 6 police officers.

The private NTV television says the explosion occurred in Van on Saturday -- a day after Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan visited the eastern Turkish city.

The cause of the explosion was not immediately known, but Kurdish rebels who are fighting for self-rule in southeastern Turkey have targeted police with bombings in the past.
