2 Norwegian workers stranded in basket over fjord

OSLO, Norway (AP) -- A Norwegian utility company says two of its employees spent the night in a basket that got stuck hanging from a cable over a fjord and are awaiting an alpine rescue team.

The SFE company said Tuesday that the power workers were stranded after an unknown technical failure on Monday. The basket is a kilometer (0.6 miles) from one side of the Nordfjord in western Norway south of the city of Trondheim.

The company said Tuesday that a helicopter tried to retrieve the men but the attempt failed.

It says an alpine rescue team will attempt to reach them. The company says the men were using the basket for repair work.
