Pope makes final blessing before stepping down

VATICAN CITY, Italy (WSVN) -- The pope made his final blessing to a crowd of thousands Sunday in Vatican City.

Pope Benedict the 16th spoke from his window at Saint Peter's Square for the last time before he resigns.

He told the large crowd packed in the square he planned on taking up a life of prayer once he steps down on Thursday.

Rumors of sex allegations and cover ups within the clergy surround the pope's resignation which the pope vehemently denies.

He said he is simply resigning because of weakness due to his old age.
