Iraq: double bombing kills 16 in Baghdad
BAGHDAD (AP) -- Iraqi police and hospital officials say a double bombing targeting police recruits in Baghdad has killed 16 people and wounded 45.
A police officer says a car parked near a police academy exploded in a mainly Shiite area in northern Baghdad. He says a suicide bomber then blew himself up as police and recruits gathered at the site.
The policeman and hospital officials have given the casualty toll on condition of anonymity because they're not authorized to release the information.
