Carmel Cafiero

7 News Investigative Reporter

Carmel Cafiero joined WSVN-TV in 1973. Currently she is the station's Investigative Reporter, but over the years her duties have ranged from the anchor desk to general assignment reporting.

Carmel came to Channel 7 from WAFB-TV in Baton Rouge, where she covered the capitol and was the first woman in the state to anchor an evening news broadcast.

Carmel's work has been honored with the presentation of two George Foster Peabody awards, Sigma Delta Chi Distinguished Service award, National Headliners award, nine Emmy awards and nearly a dozen state and local awards. In 2010, Carmel received the Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University Award for Pill Mills, a series about Pain Management Clinics.

When she's not chasing a story, you'll find Carmel in the Keys chasing bonefish.
