HOLLYWOOD, FLA. (WSVN) - Two waterspouts touched down on the coasts of Broward County beaches before immediately dissipating, Friday afternoon.

One of the weather phenomena made landfall around 12:45 p.m., on the shores just east of the intersection of Hayes Street and North Surf Road.

“I’m from michigan and I have never seen anything like that in my life,” said Debbie Buick, who witnessed the waterspout.

Live video footage captured a funnel cloud over the ocean where a disturbance in the water could be seen.

Beachgoers like Captain Moe were on the beach and had a front row seat as the waterspout twisted his way.

“It was so well defined,” Moe said. “I caught it on video. It was coming straight to the beach. People were going crazy, and some people didn’t even notice it was coming.”

Other people did notice the waterspout and quickly left the beach.

“When we realized it was getting closer, I grabbed my kids and I moved to the parking garage, and there’s a bathroom there just because I wasn’t sure if it was going to be something to worry about, but it cleared up pretty fast,” Sarah Martinez said.

At the time of the video, the National Weather Service issued a tornado warning after the waterspout made landfall but it was soon lifted.

Once a waterspout makes landfall, experts consider it a tornado.

The winds from the tornado briefly picked up chairs and umbrellas before the tornado disappeared.

The twister in Hollywood Beach was on land for about 10 seconds.
