WSVN -- Andy Ransford trys to make extra cash whenever he can.Andy Ransford: "It's been a good thing to be able to sort of chip away at some loans and have a little spending money for my family."These days he finds work on his smart phone through an app called "Gigwalk."Andy Ransford: "It's been working well for me. I started back in July of last year and depending on my schedule of the past year with school I've been able to do jobs on my way home from school."Gigwalk connects companies who need to have work done to people who want to work. Download the free app on your i-phone, sign up and build a profile that highlights your skills. Then apply for gigs in your area.Gigwalk co-founder Airel Seidman says companies look at those skills then choose who they want to do the work. Ariel Seidman: "Gigs are all around you in your local neighborhoods they pay upwards of $180 all the way down to really simple gigs that you can do for $4 or $5."Companies hire Gigwalkers to do all kinds of jobs, like verifying street signs or checking product placement in grocery stores.Ariel Seidman: "We're starting to see gigs in terms of more creative kinds of work, it could be photography it could be voice-over work. Is it a public or private place- is it a paying or a free station."When he completes the job and sends the info, Andy receives payment through paypal getting $16 for these two jobs.Andy Ransford: "There are no issues with getting paid it's completely legitimate. You typically receive your payment no later than seven days after you've completed the job."Gigwalk says their app uses smart phone technology to full advantage.Ariel Seidman" "This idea that you can pick up your jobs really quickly from your iphone be notified instantly once gigs are available then go and grab them and do them in a space of 20 minutes or a half hour that fundamentally changes how labor markets and how people find and do work."And for busy people like and making money on the run is an idea whose time has come.LYNN MARTINEZ: "Right now, you can only download Gigwalk on iphone, but the company says it's coming to Android soon."    FOR MORE INFORMATION:Gigwalkhttp://itunes.apple.com/us/app/gigwalk/id391881025?mt=8
