WSVN -- Sara Shake and Joshua Miller cruise the internet for great vacation deals.

Joshua Miller: "Planning a trip and getting the best deal is really about the internet. It's about the best websites."

He likes to use discount travel sites like Expedia, Travelocity and Kayak. Sara likes living social escapes.

Sara Shake: "What's really nice is it's the same concept as Living Social or Groupon where you can get deals with major discounts but they actually do a lot of the work for you."

Sara also uses Bing to tell her when to get the best price on airline tickets.

Sara Shake: "Right here it says to wait because fairs are dropping about $25."

Sara Shake: "That really helps in the preliminary stages of planning your trip."

If you think driving might be cheaper than flying, check out cost to drive.com.

Joshua Miller: "You can enter the year of your car, the make of your car, where you're going and it will tell you how much it's going to cost in gas and tolls."

This could help you save especially if you're traveling with a family.

Joshua Miller: "What it cost to fly would be $165 verses $112."

But not everyone likes to book vacations through the internet.

Nina Meyer: "If you're not using a skilled professional you're on your own basically."

Travel agent Nina Meyer says agents can always find a package to fit your budget and use any rewards points you might have.

Nina Meyer: "Many people have an excess of points and or mileage and it could be with hotel programs, and so you want to maximize the use of those things when planning a vacation."

Whether you go through a travel agent or find a deal online, the earlier you make your plans the more choices and better prices you'll have.
