Gulfstream Kids

Posted: Updated:

WSVN -- Attention all bored kids of summer.

Your prayers have been answered, thanks to all the entertainment going on at The Village of Gulfstream Park in Hallandale.

"It's all about the adrenaline-active lifestyle."

We may not get to catch big waves in our South Florida waters, but it's surfs up at Adrenalina, where you can experience the Flowrider.

Jovann Lopez, Instructor: "Flowrider is basically a standing wave. It shoots water straight up, you jump in and have a blast. It emulates the same feeling as surfing."

For $20 every half hour, instructors will teach you how to ride the waves, and eventually, you'll be able to do your own totally tubular tricks.

Joshua Soto, Loves to surf: "It's very fun. If you jump in there, you will love it. You may regret it, because you love it a little too much."

And we're told it's totally safe.

Joshua Soto: "Right when I fell, it didn't hurt at all. Just imagine a trampoline mat with water pushing you up. Once you fall, it's just a water slide."

Another cool deal at Adrenalina: You're allowed to skateboard around the store and play ping pong.

If your kids are into animation, they can stop by Barker Animation Art Gallery every Saturday to learn how to draw.

Troy Giorgio, Barker Animation Art Gallery: "How to draw superheroes and comic book characters, like Mickey Mouse, Green Lantern or Batman."

They offer several free art classes for different age groups.

Instructors will take kids step by step on how to draw the whole anatomy of a character.

Kareem, 8 years old: "How to draw Bugs Bunny. I made him kind of funny. He usually acts like he knows everything."

And if your child is 6 years old and under, they can meet at Gulfstream every Tuesday for the Pony Pals Kids Club.

Michael Keane, Marketing, Village of Gulfstream Park: "We meet every Tuesday from 11 to 12 and basically provide free entertainment."

Every week, there's a different show, anything from face painting, bounce houses and arts and crafts.

Irene Vaserstein, Mom: "She loves the shows, and it's free. We come home and she dances, whatever she learned."

So don't go complaining to mom and dad that you don't have anything fun to do this summer.

Belkys Nerey: "The Pony Pals Kids Club meets all year long, every Tuesday."
