Ritz-Carlton Camp

Posted: Updated:

WSVN -- Ritz-Carlton has written the book when it comes to customer service.

Jenni Steinmark: "The Ritz-Carlton is really known for their service and engaging customers."

So now, the South Beach hotel chain has to decided to pass on their socialite secrets to local girls 12 to 18 years old.

Jenni Steinmark: "We wanted bring back that time honored tradition of etiquette, but with a fun, modern twist."

Don't expect your grandma's charm school. During the half day program the girls will learn how to put their best face forward.

Liliana Grajales, Spa Director: "We are going to show them what age appropriate make-up is supposed to look like. The line we chose is really specific to young ladies, and it's great because it's very light, it's very fresh, it's all about lip stains, cheek stains so it's not a lot of coverage."

And instead of table manners, they'll get a lesson in the kitchen, going behind the scenes with the chefs at the hotel.

Jeffrey McInnis, Executive Chef: "We're going to do some healthy cuisine. We're going to do a couple of things that are easy enough to come home from school and throw together."

There's also a chance to really have some fun with the Miami Heat dancers.

Jenni Steinmark: "They're going to be teaching the girls choreography stuff so they can really learn how to enjoy themselves, let loose, but on the same hand, how to really conduct themselves like a lady when they are in a public situation, since these girls are in an ambassadorial role."

Masha Enriquez: "I'm looking forward to the dance."

But don't worry, there will be some lessons in traditional social graces!

Jenni Steinmark: "I'll be leading a mini-class called the art of conversation. I'll be taking a page out of the Ritz-Carlton handbook and teaching lessons like phone etiquette, using proper verbiage. The importance of a smile. How to write a thank you note."

Suzanne Sponder, Mom: "Although they learn how to read and write in school, they don't really learn the art of correspondence or graciousness. That's something that appealed to me."

So, don't be surprised if you get a thank you or a smile in the near future.

The first camp at the Ritz is June 19 and it is open to the public. There will be two more camps later this year.
