Virtual College Tour

Posted: Updated:

WSVN -- When Ashley Friedman was deciding on a college, it was time-consuming and expensive.

Ashley Friedman: I'm originally from Philadelphia and every school I applied to was a plane ride away."

She and her family visited a lot of schools before picking the University of Miami.

Ashley Friedman: "Cuz I wanted a campusy kind of school like this obviously."

Now she knows new technology could have saved her time and money. It's called your Campus 360, an app created to bring almost any college campus to you.

Abi Mandelbaum: "Your Campus 360 is all about connecting students and their parents with colleges nationwide."

The site offers virtual walking tours of over 100 college campuses across the country.

Abi Mandelbaum: "That allows prospective students and their parents to take a look at and walk through college campuses right from the comfort of their home."

Your own personal tour guide will take you inside the places students really want to see like dining halls and dorm rooms.

Abi Mandelbaum: "So now we're inside one of the dorm rooms, and the student and their parent can see exactly what it looks like."

And the best news the app can be downloaded for free.

Abi Mandelbaum: "They can do it from their laptop, they can do it on Facebook, they can do it from their mobile devices."

Taylor blaney applied to six schools but could only visit a couple.

Taylor Blaney: "Some of the schools I visited I wouldn't have ended up visiting if I had been able to see them before."

He says something like your Campus 360 could have helped him narrow down his search.

Taylor Blaney "It would have at least let me look at them and see if I wanted to take the time to go and visit them."

Ashley says it's not too late for her she plans on taking some virtual tours when she applies to med schools!

Ashley Friedman: "So it will definitely help me that I can look at them from here and decide if it's definitely going to be a good fit for me."

Another plus, the site is easy to navigate and you can take the tour in multiple languages.
