WSVN -- School will soon be in session. First things first, let's check out the fashion forecast at Macy's in Aventura. The trend is classic old school also known as prep academy chic.
Eugene Ramirez, Macy's: "What does that mean? That means a lot of varsity jackets, striped sweatshirts, all that kind of stuff you expect to see on a college student."
The younger ones will look great in this sporty look, complete with lightweight hoodies and the longer shorts are an A-plus in some schools.
Eugene Ramirez, Macy's: "It's a bermuda so it's pretty close to the knee, for the most part it's OK, but double-check with your school, if it's too short you may not be able to wear it."
Denim is a big trend again this year. But if uniforms are the rule you don't have to be drab in those khakis and polo, go casual with bermudas or dress them up with an oxford, jacket and tie. The idea here kids shine by adding your own personal style.
Eugene Ramirez, Macy's: "Just cuz the principal and the teacher are telling you what you have to wear to class, you can personalize it a bit and you can do that through great accessories, bookbags maybe shoes."
At Target, students stay organized with all of the latest supplies for school. The trend here is to stand out in a crowd.
Geraldine Sanon, Target: "We have a lot of bright prints, a lot of limes, turquoise, we're also getting a lot of floral prints and a lot of camouflage."
Lunch boxes will suit every taste from Hello Kitty to Spongebob. Check this out, a Transformer backpack that actually transforms into a different one.
Notebooks come in all shapes and sizes. From those you can customize to your favorite stars.
Geraldine Sanon, Target: "They don't want plain, they want something that's different, so they can take out their notebook and their friends are like 'Wow where did you get that?'"
Uniforms are also on sale here so parents it's the perfect time to stock up and save.
Geraldine Sanon, Target: "On target.com we have coupons for back to school that they can print out and they can bring in."
Parents you may want to plan your back to school shopping this weekend, where stores like Target and Macy's will take part in the tax-free holiday.
