Gym for Kids

Posted: Updated:

WSVN -- This may look like it's all fun and games, but these kids are actually getting a good workout, whether they're shooting hoops, jumping on a trampoline or playing video games I-Gym Kidz knows how to keep kids moving.

Dyanna Jamiel: "We really felt like we wanted to take action, we wanted to step up and make a difference."

The eye in I-Gym stands for Interactive. The creators wanted to appeal to kids ages six through 13 by offering them what they like.

Dyanna Jamiel: "We have dance, dance revolution. We have Wii games, we have the top of the line Playstation gaming."

The games keep them entertained and focused while exercising at the same time.

Dyanna Jamiel: "For kids that like exercising and for the kids who like gaming, it's like two things mixed together, which makes it fun for everybody."

2-year-old Enzo admits he used to sit at home and play video games all day. Now he can still enjoy the games and get in shape.

Enzo Licona: "When I came here I was like a size 16, and now I dropped down like 2 sizes."

And the I-Gym is equipped with special exercise machines made just for a child's growing body.

Dyanna Jamiel: "They're hydrolic based, which means they're fluid in motion, which means virtually zero impact on the joints, which means no risk for the children."

Mom Beth Mena has two daughters at the gym. She loves the fact that the gym is made for kids.

Beth Mena: "I also love the fact of the interactive fitness, because they like the video games but I don't want them sitting on the sofa eating after school, so it incorporates the video and the interactive fitness."

11-year old Miley admits she didn't like to exercise until she came here doing dance, dance revolution is her favorite exercise.

Miley Simpkin: "You're actually having fun but you're losing weight at the same time."

And she's seeing great results.

Miley Simpkin: "It's made me feel really good about myself cuz now I can fit into skinny jeans."

Which keeps her and other kids coming back every week to work u a sweat.

Lynn Martinez: "And parents another benefit: I-Gym Kidz is connected to an adult gym so you can work out at the same time your kids do."
