WSVN -- Kaine Hamilton is a very independent 4-year-old. Nothing stops him from having fun not even cancer. Just a few months ago, his dad says their world turned upsidedown when Kaine complained of stomach pain.Jacob Hamilton: "We took him to the emergency room, the first time he kept on complaining, and they said it was constipation."But when the pain didn't go away, the family was sent to Joe Dimaggio Children's Hospital where doctors found a large tumor in his tummy.Jacob Hamilton: "Yeah it was really big, it was like the size of a softball."Kaine was diagnosed with Burkitt's lymphoma.Dr. Anne Schaefer: "It can be a very aggressive form of childhood cancer, and it requires a very aggressive chemotherapy."Kaine's family was in shock.Jacob Hamilton: "I didn't really know what to think at first, you're never in that situation and then it hits you, it hits you all at once."In order for him to get treatment they had to be uprooted from their home in Naples to Broward County. That's why the hospital's new pediatric cancer unit offers spacious rooms and lots of entertainment to keep kids busy.Dr. Anne Schaefer: "Often you can find them, Kaine on his bike racing down the halls with our resident clown Lotsie Dotsie."His dad says despite the chemo and surgeries, his son is still able to be a little boy. Jacob Hamilton: "It's nice when he's been here for three months and he says he don't want to go home."And most importantly, he's getting the best treatment to fight his cancer.Dr. Anne Schaefer: "Fortunately, I can tell you that Kaine's prognosis is excellent."One more round of chemo and Kaine can finally go home. His dad says coming all this way was worth it.Jacob Hamilton: "I'd rather drive the extra time to know he's being taken care of right."Lynn Martinez: "To make sure kids like Kaine get the best care, Joe Dimaggio Children's Hospital is hosting "Tour de Broward." A chance for the community to walk, ride or run to raise funds for the hospital. Channel 7 is a proud sponsor again this year, so join us February 26th for all the fun."FOR MORE INFORMATION:Tour de Joe DiMaggio Children's
