Saturday’s game against Georgia Tech will have plenty of meaning to Miami wide receiver Malcolm Lewis.

His freshman season ended on the grass of the Yellow Jackets’ home field in Atlanta a year ago, when his body went one way and his ankle went another. The result was a gruesome sight, and Hurricanes coach Al Golden was so moved in that moment that he ran from the sideline to wrap the devastated receiver in his arms until he was wheeled off the field.

Lewis tries not to think about that play much, for understandable reasons.

But this week, when seeing Georgia Tech on film, the memories start to fill his mind. And if nothing else, it’s a reminder not of what went wrong, but how far he’s come in his recovery.
