Scandal over, No. 7 Miami set to meet Wake Forest

AP Sports Writer

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (AP) - Miami enters the field for home games accompanied by plumes of white smoke, a longtime Hurricanes tradition.

The haze clears quickly.

And now, the "other" cloud over the program is no longer there, either.

For the first time since 2010, Miami will play a football game unburdened by the uncertainty of an NCAA investigation. The seventh-ranked Hurricanes (6-0, 2-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) play host to Wake Forest (4-3, 2-2) on Saturday afternoon, looking to remain perhaps the biggest surprise left in the national title picture.

Miami got closure from the NCAA this week. The Hurricanes will lose some scholarships because of the scandal involving extra benefits provided by a former booster, but the worst is clearly over.
